Anyway, wanted to colour my zodiac drawing today in the office as well but i decided to complete the entire collection, all 12 animals, since its better if i finished every single animal before colouring them. Though i had the entire day, i didn't manage to finish my last animal, the pig. Perhaps its because i spent too much time thinking about the pose and the character of the animal which i was trying to portray. Hope it turned out okay xD
So yes, i'll be drawing the last pig then photocopying the drawings to colour. Why, you ask? Cause the graphic of the pencil on the paper will mix together with the graphite of the colour pencil and become all black, dirty and smudgy. So it wont be nice. So i'll colour on the photocopied version. It's not some complicated drawing anyway.
Now a days, i enjoy drawing this sort of more cartoon looking characters xD It's easier, less tiring and more productive(drawing more in a shorter time, lols). I havent scanned the other half cause the pig's not in place yet xD
Anyway, let me explain
Rat: She's hiding under the table cause a rat to me is like an animal that goes around hunting food and eating it in secret xD She's got cheese on her cheeks. So that's why she's in that position.
Ox: I know oxes are supposed to be strong and all, but i just felt like making the ox a little blur. The above ox boy is like dreamy and plays around in the meadows often. Well this came to me partly because cows hang around the fields pretty much xD Cows and oxes are pretty alike arent they? Haha! Thought it'll be cute instead of the strong ox we all know.
Tiger: Tigers are fierce, ferocious and scary animals. So i made the tiger feel unapproachable, gangster-ishly scary. By the way, he's wearing his school uniform x) So he's like a school gangster in a way.
Rabbit: Okay rabbits are supposed to be cute, small, little furry creatures but not this time xD I linked it to magic via the rabbit in the hat trick thing. I kept her cute element though, with the 2 pontails and stuff.
Dragon: Dragon reminds me of the King in china a uber long time ago. So i made my dragon into a king :D He does look a little cocky, huh? xD
Snake: I just thought snakes as slithery, lazing around sort of character, though that may not be entirely true. I think a snake's like the sexy sort as well, so here she is :) Gave her a chinese theme on random xD
Horse: She came from the word 'carefree'. Suggested by vanessa(cause i asked her while having lunch) :) So i imagined a carefree person shopping :) Free of all worries, think that's like a remedy for troubles for certain women.
Goat: I think i just made this one out of the resemblence of a goat, the beard x) Who has beard but an old man from ancient times and enjoys tea :D
Monkey: I thought monkeys as mischievious creatures so there's a student playing a trick on someone - a teacher or a friend - and she's trying to hide from whoever.
Rooster: Yeah, i realised its rooster and not hen x) This idea came from vanessa, she says chicken sounds motherly so i decided to make my chicken a caring mother who lives on a farm. The eggs pretty much gave away her zodiac identity i guess?
Dog: To me, a dog's active, lively and bubbly animals so here's a young playful boy on the beach, playing what dogs love the best (well they do like balls most of the time right? haha) :D
Pig: Part of the idea for the pig came from vanessa as well. Pigs are pretty smart creatures but appears a little relaxed most of the time, almost to the point of being lazy? So here's my pig :D Yeah, a book guy but he sleeps pretty much x)
Well thats it! My version of the chinese zodiac :)
ps. i think i destroyed the colouring a bit cause of the awful clashing colours for some animals :( And sorry my colouring skills suck :(
